1. Touring on your own
The Glider
Our true classic for you who wants to easily experience the
national park during winter! Take the chairlift up and follow
the cross-marked trail southward. You will soon notice where
the trail got its from. You can actually glide all the way
down to the mountain station again!
To the Björkliden Ski Resort
From the mountain station at the top of chairlift, there
is also a marked trail westward towards Björkliden.
Follow it upwards to the pass between Nuolia and Slåttatjåkka
before you head down towards Björkliden’s trail
system. You might even have enough time for After-Ski before
the train back to Abisko.
To the valley of Kårsavagge
Inside the high mountain valley of Kårsavagge is a
very cosy hut. Walk under the railway and along the road
up to the chairlift. On the other side of the bridge is the
head of a marked trail. After following the Abiskojåkk
stream, the trail leads up into the valley. A slightly longer
tour that can be combined very well with a night in the hut.
The King’s Trail and the national
park
Do a short tour to the Marmorbrott quary or Nissunjåkka
canyon, where you will find places to rest and a lean-to.
Some choose to go up Lake Abiskojaure before turning back.
There are plenty of trails in the national park that are
excellent to take back for some variety along your tour.
Alpine ski touring
The area between Abisko and Narvik offers countless peaks
to ascend with climbing skins under your skis. Look around
at www.topptur.nu to
tips and tours.
Downhill skiing
Björkliden, Riksgränsen and Narvik. All the classic
ski resorts that are located only a stone’s throw from
Abisko.
2. Track-set cross-country
trails
Our cross-country trails are located on Nuolja’s slope
between Abiskojåkk stream and the mountain. We have
three different trail lengths. The trails are regularly set
with a snowmobile and sledge, meaning that their width is
more suited to classic skiing than skating.
Touring and cross-country trails
Regardless of how you plan a quiet tour or a training session
on cross-country skis, you will find what you are looking
for in our system of trails.
3. Nuolja Off-Piste - The
mountain of opportunities
First and foremost, this is not an average ski resort. Nuolja
is a mountain in its purest form, wild and uncertain. The
skiing takes place in two zones – either inside or
outside the ski area. There is ski patrol in the area and
the risk for an avalanche is reduced daily to very little.
If you choose to ski outside the area, you are completely
vulnerable to your own judgement and your own decisions.
A large dose of humility and own taking your own responsibility
are needed.
Despite the problem and dangers, there are possibilities
that make Nuolja great. The advantage of you designing your
own 500 metres of descent from the beginning to the end in
natural mountain terrain. The privilege that for a moment,
completely as per your own inspiration and skill, ski a mountain
created for true skiing.

4. Off-piste guiding each

Absolutely off-piste! Mount Nuolja is perhaps Sweden’s
best kept skiing secret. The terrain is varying and creative,
the only worry is that it can be difficult to get around
the mountain. Take the chance and ski an afternoon with those
who know the mountain best – the ski patrol. During
your guiding, we search for and ski the best off-piste – the
deepest powder and the best lines. The price includes two
hours of guiding.
Included in the guiding:
Off-piste guide, rent of off-piste backpack with transceiver/probe/shovel
Pre-booking. Gathering each day 10.30 at the mountain station.
Price: 170 SEK/person
(non-STF member 210 SEK)
